The Build (Part 2: Functionality)
Comics & Mods
This is truly one of the most exciting sets I can remember in recent LEGO history. All of the new elements and the great "playability" factor coupled with the fact that The LEGO Group can't seem to keep it in stock gives this set "Epic" status. This was yet another set I reviewed that I ended up playing with for hours. Granted, I made a lot of modifications to improve the set's functionality, but the set is designed very well with a great new Castle faction and a lot of function and play in mind.

Welcome new members of the family!!!! This set introduces some very cool, long-awaited new molds: new beards, helmets and Giant Trolls! Here are the new Troll/Goblin figures. Their helmet isn't the new one we saw in the prelim pics, but the old Knight's Kingdom Vladek forces helmet. The new printed torso and head for the troll mini-fig is very detailed. I like the introduction of a new species' mini-fig head.
New beard and helmet molds: gold winged helmet and braided beard front • gold winged helmet and braided beard back • copper helmet and braided beard front • copper helmet and braided beard back • silver helmet and tied beard front • silver helmet and tied beard back • all four dwarf helmets that come in this set • regular helmet front • regular helmet back • winged helmet front • winged helmet back • tied beard front • tied beard back • braided beard front • braided beard back • all four dwarf beards that come with this set
There's nothing new on the torsos or faces.
One of the coolest thing about the troll is that a mini-fig foot fits in his hand.
New Giant Troll figure: Ready to smash • and swing! • back view • front view • top view • in relation to a regular mini-fig • picking up said mini-fig • and smashing him • four points of articulation—both shoulders and both hands. Arms and hands can be removed. The legs, however, do not move. Along with the new molds are a new club for the Giant Troll and a new sword for the troll/goblins. .. The brown beards are a new shade of brown...that matches neither old brown or frown...
